Career Colleges Up Late for Students

You week day is jam packed. You go to work, pick up your kids from school, drop your son off at soccer practice, start dinner, pick your son up from soccer practice, eat dinner with the family, help with homework, get everyone a bath and you end the night with bed time stories. No time for college, right? Wrong. Due to a large increase in enrollment many career colleges are offering classes at all hours of the night.  Class times range from 6 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. The new hours are making it possible for many people to become students of a career college.

College For Everyone?

In February, President Obama gave a speech during a joint session of Congress, urging “every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training”. And it’s an idea that many of us have grown up with – the idea that every American should (or at least should be able to) go to college. But in debates over college access, preparation and completion, politicians, policymakers and the public are beginning to swing a bit to the other side. Are college degrees becoming less useful?
